MGS Out and About

Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society, as with many others, has moved to a mixture of outings and Zoom talks since the pandemic struck. Our latest outing was in September 2022, when we had a guided tour of the old county town of Montgomery.

We were taken up to the remains of the Castle and from there to the Church and churchyard where we saw the Robbers grave and walked the town walls back to the town where a nice lunch was enjoyed by all. This was followed in the afternoon by the AGM.

Our Home

Our library resources are held in the Newtown Library building, which has a dedicated Trysorau Maldwyn/Maldwyn Treasures local history research room. This is an extensive and accessible room for genealogists which features the Society’s publications. Our collection of pedigrees and other information can be seen by members on request.

Events

The next event will be the AGM on Nov 4th at 11am at Newtown Library or online via Zoom, followed by a talk by Bill Greenwell on “David Evans - the Montgomeryshire born renegade vicar of South Shields”
